Client Profile: Alpa Shah, a prominent finance leader, approached us seeking a book cover redesign for her book titled “Every Woman Should Invest.”
The primary objective was to create a visually appealing and modernized cover that retained the essence of the original while conveying the message that investing is crucial for women globally.
Design Challenge: The challenge was to enhance the existing book cover, maintaining recognizability, while modernizing the design for better appeal.
The key aspects were standardizing the color, improving font readability, and incorporating a concept that resonated with the book’s theme.
Design Approach:
- Color Standardization: We opted to standardize the color of the book cover, transitioning from the original red color to a more neutral yet impactful hue that complemented the book’s theme.
- Font Enhancement: We selected easily readable and modern fonts to improve readability and make the book title and author name more prominent and appealing.
- Conceptualization:
- Representation of Women: To highlight the book’s message of empowering women in finance and investments, we conceptualized the inclusion of different women represented on various currency notes.
- Symbolism of Growth: The placement of currency notes in a ladder format symbolized growth and emphasized the global significance of women’s financial knowledge and independence.
- Relevance to All Women: The concept aimed to subtly underscore the book’s relevance for women worldwide, regardless of their country or background.
- Spine Design: We chose to incorporate the female gender icon alongside the book title and author name to enhance visibility and make the book stand out on bookshelves.
- Back Cover Design: The back cover featured the author’s image alongside a founder’s note, providing a personal touch and further engaging potential readers.
Outcome: The redesigned book cover successfully retained the essence of the original while achieving a modern and appealing look. The incorporation of a well-thought-out concept with symbolic elements effectively conveyed the book’s message to the target audience. The spine design and back cover enhancements contributed to increased visibility and intrigue, ultimately enriching the book’s overall presentation and market appeal.
